Storage TSC provides technical support to Sun customer problems in a timely and effective manner. The Technical Support Engineer role is for an experienced Engineer with highly technical competence and proven customer handling skills. candidate will be supporting Sun"s most valued customers. Will be working closely with product engineering group for problem resolution and learning.
The candidate should have proven experience in excellent technical troubleshooting skills, customer communications skills,setting customer expectations, handling internal stakeholder in the service chain and situations pertaining to Storage products and technologies. Should be familiar with Storage products like Disk Arrays, Tape Backup software products, Tape Libraries, Cluster, SAN environment and storage softwares.
The candidate should be a team player with good interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation and collaborative skills.
- Provide technical resolution to the customer problems pertaining to Storage products and technologies
- Ability to do remote technical trobleshooting and identification of the problem
- Proven expertise and experience in problem analysis and troubleshooting and debugging.
- Act as a liaison for higher levels of technical support and manage technical escalation.
- Capture experiences/knowledge and contribute to Sun"s knowledge database.
- Provide telephone or web technical support to Sun"s customers.
- Proven experience in customer communications and customer handling skills.
- Experience and knowledge of working in Solaris/UNIX and SCSI/FC-SCSI Sun arrays, Tape Libraries, Tape Backup. Experience in problem resolution of other storage products (hardware and software) would be beneficial.
- Experience in software/hardware RAID technologies
- Candidate must be a team player who is willing to seek and give technical advice across functional group boundaries and/or suppliers
and collaborate with peers and managers on technical or project issues.
- Would be required to work on weekends as and when required to provide continued, mission critical support to Sun"s customers. Should be flexible to work in 24x7 mode
- Ability to work, communicate and coordinate activities with both Product Development, Field organizations and other responsible groups.
